Plenty of ups and downs for both Alex and Luca today at @emeraldkartclub Alex started the day strong, qualifying 8th in a strong field of 20 Junior Lights, while misfortune meant that Luca did not set a qualifying time and started heat 1 from last. A very unfortunate incident resulted in a DNF for Alex in heat 3, while Luca struggled with kart setup in the early heats but was able to still claw his way through the field. The boys starting positions for the final was Alex out of 17th and Luca out of 14th. Excellent racing by both boys in the final saw them both improve their positions. Who is interested in practicing?. Tomorrow 1st of December from 12PM there will be practice on offer. Social activity on komp should be approved by tomorrow. 1 more night also to nominate for the meet.

Congratulations to our members who raced at the Tony Lovasi Enduro over the weekend. Mikey Janusz paired up with Adain Stevens from Townsville and won in the Juniors class by three laps or 2 min 40 sec ahead of second place. Seth and Tristan from Cairns were early favourites after grabbing pole in the Seniors class but got unlucky with a flat tyre which set them back to an unrecoverable position. Cooper price from Cairns also competed in a cadet class team finishing third with his co-driver Cruz Smith in Cadets class. With 6 mandatory pit stops over the 3 hour race time and deciding on fuel levels and duration of driver stints whilst taking advantage of all course yellow (safety car) periods while managing tyre degradation (especially of the wet tyres on a drying track) it added another element to kart racing other than raw speed which made the event even more fun and exciting. The changing dry/wet/dry conditions put all the teams under immense pressure with several all course yellows adding to the excitement and critical strategy calls for pitting and changing from wet to dry tyres.

It’s race week. Time to tell your competitors that their is the final race of the year this weekend. With an all point count format, Egg and spoon race and bracket qualifying this is not a meet to missed.

2024 is not far away. The 2024 Karting Qld Calendar has been released.

If anybody is updating their race gear for next season and isn’t sure what to do with it we would accept the donations of the old gear for come and try days and bring a mate karters at our race meets.

Our final race meeting of the year is up on KOMP. A great format to end the year with an egg and spoon race and a bracket Qualifying and all points counting from our usual dead man final. This is a meeting not to be missed.

The Social Karting event is up on Komp for members interested in practicing for the last race meet of the year.

This Sunday 19th November. There will be Practice for members wishing to practice for the last meet of year on the 2nd December from 9AM. Practice is $15 for who help with track setup or $30 otherwise.

News regarding our race meeting next weekend. Next Race meeting Sunday 20th August 2023 is cancelled. The meeting clashes with a two day meeting at Proserpine that many members have expressed interest in attending. Also Burnouts had a rain out at their last meeting and at their request we gave them Saturday the 19th for a re-run which means we cannot set up the track till Sunday on race day. Our next meeting will be the City of Cairns Titles September 2nd.

A few photos from the working bee this morning. The new trailer supplied by Doug DC Mechanical Repairs for our race day equipment is now at home in the container after some rearranging of things. A new bulb was installed in the emergency lighting, the canteen electrical cable was raised and some new tyre bundles were were drilled and stacked and tied. ATTENTION Their will be working bee on Saturday 29 April 2023 at 9 AM The following jobs need to be done repair the emergency lighting. store the equipment trailer in the container - needs a container clean out and restowing of gear. repair the supporting wire holding the canteen power cable. Nic Beehag and Matt Butland will be on location with equipment we need. For the people who attend their will be practice offered for $10 after the completion of the working bee.

HELP NEEDED With our first club race meeting tomorrow sponsored by Pitstop Racing we need some help with refuelling! Refuelling drivers and pitcrew that is, we need someone or some people who can help Lauren in the canteen, it does not have to be all day if we can get a couple of people for an hour or 2 would be great. So if you have someone who can come out watch some racing help a little bit it would be most appreciated!

At this stage we are racing on Saturday, pending weather staying kind! We will need everyone to get to the track a little bit early, we will need to get the shovels and brooms out to clean the ingrid and one or two little patches on the track before we can practice. Also the normal barrier and bunting set up is to be done on Saturday, if everyone can pitch in a little bit as you arrive it will be done in no time at all. We will be asking if everyone can pit in the speedway pits (out the back on the grass) as the speedway itself has some large holes.

WORKING BEE There is a working bee this Saturday from 8am to backfill some kerbs, move barriers etc in preparation for next weekends Pitstop Racing sponsored round 1 of the club championship. We need a couple of wheel barrows to make life easier, please contact Matt Butland 0432180520 or comment below if you can help out There will most likely be a track set up during next week so keep your eyes peeled for info

Crichton Industrial - Electrical Contractors have come on board to sponsor our last race meeting of the year with trophies for the junior and cadet classes. This is the last meeting in Queensland for 2022, so get one more meeting in before you get the engine freshened up for 2023. Nominations are open via cms and supp regs are on karting Queensland's website. Notice we are starting later than normal to beat the heat and qualifying will be in the form of a single lap shoot out! This means we have one last track set up working bee to go, so please keep your eyes peeled for details on that one.

Anybody who needs to hire a transponder please email or message the club so we can make sure there is enough to go around.

MEETING REMINDER A general meeting will be held from 6:00pm on Tuesday 16 August 2022 at TJ Micro Systems 335 Mulgrave Rd. All members are invited to attend, get the latest on track updates, how you can help the club get racing asap and have your input in club matters. If you cannot attend in person please let the club know, phone, email, Facebook message or carrier pigeon and we will send a zoom link so you can join in the fun. These meetings are the best way to stay up to date with club affairs. We try and keep them short and sweet as everyone is busy, but if you can spare some time it is appreciated.
